Photobook: Newsstand

Newsstand, this independent little space in a public environment, makes me feel a sense of loneliness as an individual existing in society. When I walk around in Manhattan, I turn my camera towards the immigrants who work inside the newsstands. Most of them come from South Asia: Some are from Pakistan, and some are from India… Through the tiny window, I capture their emotions while they are working, and through conversations, they share their stories with me. Each newsstand has its own story. And the story is about people surviving in the city.

We are all so similar.

We are all living inside a newsstand.
